Performance of HBsAg quantification assays for detection of Hepatitis B virus genotypes and diagnostic escape-variants in clinical samples

•A head-to-head study evaluating the performance of 3 assays measuring the HBsAg level is proposed.•There is a good correlation between all current systems.•An influence of HBV genotype and “a” determinant variants in the quantification of HBsAg was observed.
