Clinical Course of Long-Term Administration of Tolvaptan in Our Cases

Background: The effectiveness of tolvaptan for chronic heart failure has not been fully studied. Methods: We reviewed 33 consecutive patients with chronic administration of tolvaptan from 2012 through 2016 in our hospital. Results: Mean follow up period was 15.2 ± 9.2 months. Fig. 1 shows survival rate. Thirteen patients were died within three years and two patients required dialysis for chronic renal failure. Twenty one patients were survived over 12 months. We compared dose of furosemide, eGFR and BNP levels in them at 1 month and 12 months after tolvaptan administration. There were no significant differences in dose of furosemide (51.0 ± 27.6 vs. 55.2 ± 46.3 P = .661), eGFR (40.9 ± 30.0 vs. 32.5 ± 16.9 P = .096) and BNP levels (560.0 ± 527.4 vs. 368.1 ± 449.3 P = .136). Summary: We summarized prognosis of all our cases with long-term administration of tolvaptan.
