Quantum Speed Meter Based On Dissipative Coupling

We show that generalized dissipative optomechanical coupling enables a direct quantum measurement of speed of a free testmass. An optical detection of a weak classical mechanical force based on this interaction is proposed. The sensitivity of the force measurement can be better than the standard quantum limit.
