Application of CT Urography with Diuretic and without Diuretic

Purpose: To evaluate the manifesting effect of urinary collecting system by excretory-phase CT urography with and without diuretic.Materials and Methods: CT urography with diuretic and CT urography without diuretic were prospectively performed in the 2 groups.The CT urography images of 2 groups were compared and analysed by two observers blinded to the symptoms of patients.They were asked to assess the manifesting effect of urinary collecting system in CTU images.Results: 3D volume rendering(VR) images and maximum-intensity-projection(MIP)images of CTU with diuretic are more excellent than those of CTU without diuretic,and 2D curved-planar-reformatted(CPR) images are also more excellent than those of CTU without diuretic.The manifesting effect of urinary collecting system is improved by using CPR technique.Conclusion: The images of excretory-phase CTU with diuretic are excellent and provide a precise assessment of urinary collecting system and should be widely applied.
