Survey on Cognitive Impairment of 505 Aged People and Its Influencing Factors in Tianjin

Objective To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of cognitive impairment(CI) among the elderly in Tianjin,and to study the factors influencing the cognitive function.Methods With the convenient sampling method,the basic information questionnaire,MMSE and ADL were used to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of CI of the elderly aged above 60 years in Tianjin.The factors influencing cognitive function were also investigated.Results A total of 505 aged people were investigated,and the prevalence of CI was 25.90%.The results of chi square test indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the prevalence of CI among people with different educational levels,ages,marital status and working nature;moreover,there was a correlation between these factors and the prevalence of CI.The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factor for CI was age,while the protective factors were exercise time and income of every month.The equation of multiple linear regression analysis was Y=27.073+1.563X1-0.086X2+0.008X3-0.049X4+0.331X5+0.352X6,X1 was educational level,X2 was age,X3 was exercise time,X4 was ADL scores,X5 was the amount of drinking water,and X6 was the income.Conclusions The prevalence of CI of the aged in Tianjin is equal to the level of the whole country,and the main influencing factors are age,exercise time and income.It is necessary to take positive countermeasures for preventing the occurrence and progression of CI.
