Investigation on infectious status and awareness of syphilis in three human groups in Nantong City

Objective: To investigate the preventive knowledge coverage and infected rate of among different people in Nantong.Methods: A self-made questionnaire investigation was carried out through face to face interview among female workers,STD clinic visitors,transient population and normall residents.Blood specimen from these cases were taken to examine antibody of syphilis.Results: The awareness and infected rate of in female workers and STD clinic visitors was higher than that in the transient population and normall residents.Syphilis is transmitted through sex was widely known by people(91.57%),while awareness of casual contact does not transmit syphilis was the lowest.Syphilis latent was 30.95% in the first stage,and 44.05% in the second stage,while recessive 25.00%.Conclusion: Health education of in Nantong should be strengthened in future prevention.Good job of intervention to the high—risk group was necessary,and the screening ought to be strengthened in Nantong city.
