Abstract
[Objective] To observe the effect of Xinshen No.1(treating mental disease) on the expression of serum SOD, MDA and the pathologic changes of colon mucous membrane in rats with chronic stresss.[Methods] Chronic stress was established in Wistar rats. They wererandomly divided into five groups:blank group, model group, Xinshen No.1-treated stress groups(high, middle and low dosage) with 8 rats ineach group.Serum SOD, MDA were detected with enzyme-scale meter and the pathologic changes of colon mucous membrane were observed with light microscope.[Results] The serum SOD activity of the model group was lower than that of the blank group(P0.05).The SODactivity of Xinshen No.1-treated stress groups(high, middle and low dosage) was higher than that of model group(P0.05).Compared withblank group, the serum MDA of model group, Xinshen No.1-treated stress groups(high, middle and low dosage) was higher(P0.05).Compared with model group, it was decreased(P0.05) in Xinshen No.1-treated stress groups(high, middle and low dosage).[Conclusion] Thetraditional Chinese medicine Xinshen No.1 can decrease the MDA contents in serum, heighten the SOD activity and increase the rats antioxygen capability and lessen lipid peroxidation damage and can also improve the pathologic morphology of colon mucous membrane.
