Abstract
Objective: The effect of oxidative stress on Vitamin C in chronic renal failure(CRF).Methods: 60 CRF patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n=30) and control group(n=30).thirty healthy volunteers were in normal control.Treatment group treated by vitamin C 500mg/d for 8 weeks.Malondialdehyde(MDA),Glutathione(GSH) in plasma were measured at the beginning and the end of the study. Results: MDA in plasma was significantly higher in CRF compared with that in healthy(P0.01).GSH in plasma was lower than that in healthy(P0.01);8 weeks later,MDA was lower,GSH was significantly higher than before treatment in group VC.GSH was significantly higher in VC group than control group. Conclusion: Vitamin C may alleviate the oxidative stress of CRF.
