Correlation between Gene Methylation and the Drug Resistance of Tumor

DNA methylation is a kind of epigenetic modification,hypermethylation of antioncogene is closely related the occurrence of many kinds of tumor. At present,chemotherapy is a main method for the treatment of tumor. However,chemotherapy resistance is one of the most important reasons for tumor recurrence and the failure of chemotherapy. Tumor suppressor genes are methylated in the majority of the tumor,which is closely related to the chemotherapy resistance. Demethylation drugs can activate tumor suppressor gene promoter and restore the sensitivity of tumor cells to the chemotherapy drugs,or even reverse the chemotherapy resistance. It has been confirmed that demethylation can reverse the drug resistance in the common abnormal methylated genes.
