Quality standard of Eleagni Radix et Caulis

Objective To establish the quality standards of Eleagni Radix et Caulis. Methods Microscopic characteristics of Eleagni Radix et Caulis were identified. The moisture, total ash content were detected. TLC method was used for qualitative identification. HPLC method were used to determine oleanolic acid and ursolic acid. Results The Eleagni Radix et Caulis root properties, microscopic characteristics were described. According to the results of the determination of 6 batches to determine moisture content may not be over 14.0%, the total ash content may not be over 2.0%; TLC spots were clear, good separating degree; content determination of oleanolic acid in sample quantity 0.3005-1.8030 μg(r = 0.9994) had good linear relationship with the peak area and the average recovery was 97.0%, RSD was 1.4%(n = 6). Ursolic acid amount of sample 0.2625- 1.5750 μg(r = 0.999 4) had good linear relationship with the peak area and the average recovery was 98.6%, RSD was 1.8%(n = 6). Conclusion The method is simple, specific, can be used for the quality control of Eleagni Radix et Caulis.
