Abstract
Objective To investigate the gene polymorphism of a locus DYS712 and its significance in forensic medicine. Methods DNA was extracted from 110 venous blood samples of unrelated male Han Chinese ethnicity in Shanxi province.Each allele of Y-STR loci was sequenced and the allele ladders were constructed.Alleles of Y-STR loci were nominated according to recommendations of the International Society of Forensic Genetics. Results The Y-STR loci DYS712 had four complex repeat nucleotides,and the sequence was +.Six alleles had been found in 110 unrelated male venous blood samples.They were 20,21,22,23,24 and 25.Their frequencies were 0.027 3,0.190 9,0.318 2,0.263 6,0.154 5 and 0.045 5,respectively.The gene diversity(GD)was 0.773 2.If used in forensic science,both the power of discrimination(PD)and the power of exclusion(PE)were 0.773 2.Conclusion The DYS712 has a high level of genetic polymorphism and can be used in forensic science and human genetics research.
