Epidemiological survey of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Pneumonia in children in Xianning City of Hubei Province

Objective To survey and analyze the epidemiological characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumoniae(MP) pneumonia in children in Xianning City of Hubei Province.Methods Clinical data of children with MP pneumonia admitted to Xianning Central Hospital and Xianan Hospital from January 2007 to December 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.Results The incidence rates of MP pneumonia in children increased year by year being 18.71% in 2007,22.71% in 2008 and 26.05% in 2009 respectively.The incidence rates of MP pneumonia were 17.36% in springs,12.41% in summers,29.59% in autumns and 25.09% in winters,showing significant differences(P0.05).There was no significant difference in gender in children with MP pneumonia,being 21.09% in males and 22.04% in females(P0.05).The incidence rates of MP pneumonia in children of different age groups were as follows:13.96%(37 cases) in children less than 3 years old,24.10%(80 cases) in children between 4～6 years old,32.79%(40 cases) in children between 7～9 years old and 20.25%(33 cases) in children older than 10 years.of age.Conclusions The incidence of children in Xianning City increases year by year and the morbidity rates in autumns and winters were higher,especially in children over the age of 3 years.
