Multiprofessional assessment and treatment of children with autistic disorders

Objective: Children with an autistic disorder show in addition to the core problems of the syndrome, symptoms such as sleeping problems, auto-aggressive behaviour, attention deficit problems and hyperactivity. The combination of these symptoms makes it very difficult to integrate the child in daily activities and social settings such as kindergarten and school. Parents and teachers often need help and counselling to achieve these goals. This study addresses the issue of which problems burden the parents and the type of interventions necessary to support the child and its family in its development.
