Abstract
•Psidium guineense Swartz is a shrub used in folk medicine to treat diarrhea, dysentery, and urinary tract diseases.•The main compounds of the volatile oil from P. guineense leaves were (2Z,6E)-farnesol, α-copaene, and muurola-4,10(1,4) dien‑1-β-ol.•The P. guineense volatile oil chemical composition is season-dependent, regulated by the presence or absence of rain precipitation.•The volatile oils displays strong to moderate activity against cryptococcus neoformans and micrococcus luteus.•P. guineense volatile oils presented larvicidal activity against aedes aegypti, an important vector of arboviruses.
