Abstract
Aim/Hypothesis The purpose of this case series was to evaluate the primary stability obtained with BLX implant design during placement in fresh extraction sockets in the anterior zone. Material and Methods Three consecutive patients, requiring replacement of a single hopeless anterior tooth, meeting with clinical and radiographic indication criteria for immediate implant placement were treated using the same procedure of extraction and immediate implant placement followed by immediate temporization Implants diameter and length were selected according to the preoperative radiographic evaluation. BLX Straumann design implants were placed. Implants insertion torque were measured using the surgical unit. A screw retained immediate provisional was placed if primary stability exceeded 35 N cm. Three months after implant placement impression was taken for final restorations. Results Three consecutive patients were included in the study. Two maxillary central incisors and 1 mandibular canine were extracted. A total of 3 implants were inserted, the average initial stability obtained 42.5 N cm with a range of 40–45 N cm, allowing in each cases the placement of an immediate provisional restoration. At 6 months recall the implant survival rate was 100%. Conclusions and Clinical Implications The results of this case series suggest that the use of the BLX Straumann implant design is predictable to achieve sufficient primary stability, which is necessary for immediate temporization and subsequent osseointegration for replacement of maxillary incisors.
