Shape-adaptive composite foams with high expansion and absorption used for massive hemorrhage control and irregular wound treatment

•Propose a method to prepare novel composite foams with high expansion and absorption.•Combine multiple hemostatic mechanism into one composite materials.•Use hemorrhaging liver mouse model and swine artery gunshot injury model to evaluate the hemostatic performance of the composites.•Use composite foams to control massive hemorrhage and treat deep/irregular wound.
