Abstract
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is the most frequent malignant salivary gland tumor, with around one-third demonstrating a specific translocation, MECT1-MAML2; previous studies have suggested its role in prognosis and treatment outcome. BPIF (PLUNC) protein family members have previously been identified as important biomarkers in distinguishing mucoepidermoid carcinomas from other salivary gland tumors.
