摘要

•An extended anoxic dissolution experiment of UO2 in deionised water was conducted.•A secondary phase nucleated on the surface of UO2 with [U] ∼10−9 M in the solution.•A mechanism for the anoxic dissolution of UO2 in deionised water is proposed.•No amorphisation of the UO2 film was detected by EBSD after the dissolution.
