Resistance to the root lesion nematodes Pratylenchus thornei and P. neglectus in cereals: Improved assessments in the field

•Genetic variation in resistance to Pratylenchus thornei and P. neglectus was observed.•Despite different environments, the nematode resistance rankings were highly correlated.•A multi-environment trial analysis can reduce the number of times a variety needs to be evaluated.•A low pre-sowing nematode density resulted in higher nematode multiplication.
