A Mediated Moderation Model of Work Overload and Mental Health of Professional Service Staff

Abstract
Professional service has become an important part of the knowledge economy society, and work overload of professional service staff has seriously affected the mental health. Based on Job Demand-Resource theory, this study investigates the mediating mechanism and boundary conditions of work overload on mental health by investigating 113 employees in one of the big four international accounting firms. The results revealed that work overload was positively correlated with job burnout, and negatively correlated with mental health; supervisor support moderate that work overload influence on mental health; job burnout mediating impacts of work overload and supervisor support on mental health. This study provides a new perspective to reduce the negative effects of professional service employees' work overload on mental health.
