The first breaks in the record are generally unpickable. Hence, it’s more appropriate to use the time reverse imaging (TRI) for locating noise source rather than the travel time inversion. We introduce TRI into the noise source locating and propose an isotime point imaging method for source identification. We take an imaging point as a source, calculate the travel time field around, pick several points on one or more isotime lines (we call them isotime points), and use the back propagated wavefield at the isotime points to conduct another imaging value. Combination of the results of the conventional method and that from the isotime point imaging helps suppress artifacts.
