Abstract
Aim: N-terminal fragment of C-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proCNP) is a paracrine growth factor expressed in the vascular endothelium and shown to be associated with arterial stiffness, endothelial dysfunction, and early atherosclerosis. It also contributes to prediction of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decline on top of established risk markers in type 2 diabetes. However, the change in plasma NT-proCNP level after kidney transplantation has not been studied previously.
