The efficacy of swallowing assessment for prediction of oral intake in tube feeding patients

Rationale: Some patients with dysphagia can improve their ability of oral intake after ingestion training while holding a feeding tube. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (PEG) is reliable in feeding, as well as safe and efficient in training despite its postoperative complications. We retrospectively investigated the relationship between the clinical parameters and ingestion after training and compared the influence on training between PEG and 8Fr sized nasogastric tube (NG).
