Abstract
Entrepreneurial orientation is a firm’s characteristics that are scanning and monitoring their environment to identify new market opportunities and to renew existing areas of operation. As an entrepreneurial orientated firm, the collaboration through open innovation activities is paramount to acquire missing knowledge, reduce the risk, reduce the cost in purchasing resources and enlarge the social networks. The aim of this paper is to present a holistic view of the factors of entrepreneurial orientation that affect the SMEs performance through open innovation activities. Using a systematic literature review approach from previous studies, this paper identifies four key factors of entrepreneurial orientation that impact on the performance of SMEs in managing the open innovation activities in their organization. These four factors have been identified as risk taking, proactiveness, autonomy and network.
