•We tested the immobilization of a pure Geotrichum candidum lipase on different supports.•The derivates were used as a biocatalyst in the hydrolysis of mandelic acid.•Enantiomeric excess was determined and evaluated.•The pH can totally switch the enantioselectivity of the enzyme.
