Cross-priming amplification combined with immunochromatographic strip for rapid on-site detection of African swine fever virus

•Cross-priming amplification combined with immunochromatographic strip was developed for detection of ASFV.•The assay integrated the sensitivity of cross-priming amplification with the convenience of the strip.•The assay was able to detect as low as 200 copies of the virus.•The assay can be used for rapid and on-site diagnosis of ASF.
