Towards a climate change adaptation strategy for national parks: Adaptive management pathways under dynamic risk

•A climate change adaptation tool was tested with the New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service (Australia).•Over 300 staff state wide through 17 workshops participated in the co-production of adaptive management pathways and risk heuristics.•The tool demonstrated available interventions, management practice evolution, and management pathway discontinuities under dynamic risk.•The NSW Government has responded by developing a draft Adaptation Strategy to support the agency’s action on climate change.
