Abstract
•A nonlinear finite element model of ring-stiffened composite rubber hose is created and verified.•Stresses of stiffener, radial and axial deformation and load in reinforcement cords are obtained.•A bulging phenomenon causing load concentration between two adjacent stiffeners is found.•Failure modes are recognized by failure criteria. The influence of different fibers and rubbers on failure modes are evaluated.
