Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae serovar 61:(k):1,5,(7) as cause of caprine abortion

•First report of caprine abortion due to Salmonella enterica subspecies diarizonae (IIIb) 61:(k):1,5,(7).•Molecular investigation of one caprine and 77 ovine strains by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis revealed a high diversity.•S. IIIb 61:(k):1,5,(7) has opportunistic character, shows low virulence and high antimicrobial susceptibility.
