Abstract
•Three flow regimes successively form in the enclosure as the tilt angle increases.•The transition regime is the most unstable regime.•The partition can advance the formation of the single-cell regime.•The opposite effect of partitions on the first and third regimes is explained.•Partition can moderate the fluctuation of the heat flux for various angles.
