Vaginal cuff recurrences occur in approximately 1% of patients who receive vaginal cuff brachytherapy. Such patients can expect to be salvaged of their recurrent disease with radiation therapy. Reirradiation can result in significant and morbid rectal toxicity such as ulceration or fistula.
