Which is the best combination of TACE and Sorafenib for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treatment? A systematic review and network meta-analysis

•Combination therapy of TACE and Sorafenib were commonly used; but the best choice of chemotherapy in TACE has not been identified.•Combination group with HCPT had the advantage of long-term efficacy, and Adriamycin showed short-term efficacy.•The safety of MMC and 5-Fu were suboptimal, and Adriamycin and HCPT were safer than Platinum.•The TACE(HCPT + THP) +Sorafenib and TACE (HCPT + EPI) +Sorafenib arms had significantly different efficacy rates.•Combination therapy with HCPT + THP/EPI in TACE and Sorafenib may be used as a first-line treatment in advanced HCC patients.
