Goal-directed fluid therapy versus conventional fluid therapy in colorectal surgery: A meta analysis of randomized controlled trials

•We conducted a meta-analysis to compare GDFT versus conventional fluid therapy in colorectal surgery.•Compared with conventional fluid therapy, GDFT may not reduce 30-day mortality and length of hospital stay.•The better gastrointestinal function associated with GDFT was significant in the surgeries without ERAS.
