•Three samples were prepared to qualify the helium inlet manufacturing process before series production started.•ITER PF6 helium inlet qualification was successfully accomplished by meeting all the technical requirements from ITER IO.•The manufacturing procedures of helium inlet fabrication were developed, finalized and approved by ITER IO.
