Abstract
•A multi-hydroxy-containing ammonium phosphate (DPPT) was synthesized, and clearly characterized.•DPPT imparted highly effective flame retardance to PLA.•DPPT inhibited the heat release of PLA during combustion.•The pyrolysis behavior of DPPT was investigated through TG-FTIR and py-GC/MS to disclose the mechanism of DPPT.
