Abstract
•Yield and fruit characteristics were evaluated by side, depth and height in olive hedgerows pruned annually on alternating sides.•Mechanical pruning of alternating sides allowed maintenance of hedgerow width and production over two growing seasons.•Oil yield was mainly concentrated on unpruned sides and inner hedgerow positions.•Fruit characteristics were more variable among heights than among hedgerow sides and depths.
