Abstract
•Bi2O2CO3 nanoplates of high aspect ratio and hierarchical structures were prepared.•Post functionalization of Bi2O2CO3 with CuS to form CuS-Bi2O2CO3 heterojunctions.•Heterojunctions show better visible light absorption and charge carrier separation.•The CuS-Bi2O2CO3 highly active for degradation of chlorpyrifos under visible light.
