While GDDR5 has matured into a key enabler of high-performance computing, new and evolving applications continue to drive memory bandwidth requirements higher. This paper presents Micron's initial GDDR6 offering, demonstrating silicon functionality to 16 Gb/s, while evaluating channel and signaling options to support the new speed target.
