Cooling history and age of magnetization of a deep intrusion: A new 1.7 Ga key pole and Svecofennian-post Svecofennian APWP for Baltica

•A cooling history for a deep Paleoproterozoic intrusion has been demonstrated.•The magnetization age of the deep intrusion is close to that of the crystallization age 1700 Ma.•A new 1700 Ma key pole fills a time gap in the APWP for Fennoscandia.•Overlapping ca 1 paleomagnetic poles in the time span ca 1870–1700 Ma suggest prolonged time of no or only minor movements for Fennoscandia.
