V1719 Aql: A solar-type twin binary

•We present spectroscopic observations of the late type binary V1719 Aql for the first time.•It has been found that the true orbital period is twice the value given in the literature.•The physical parameters of the components were derived for the first time.•We show that V1719 Aql is a perfect twin with two identical components.
