Mobile phone mediated point-of-care testing of HIV p24 antigen through plastic micro-pit array chips

•Plastic micro-pit array chips (μPACs) were used for the mobile phone mediated POCT detection.•Images of the μPACs were taken by a phone and sent to a computer for quantitative analysis.•Parameters were examined for the detection of HIV capsid p24 antigen.•A LOD of 190 pg/ml p24 antigen was achieved with only 4 μl of sample.•It is low-cost, easy-to-use and convenient to be extended to other analytes.
