Abstract
Introduction: Incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with cancers is a common complication with malignancies with solid tumors generally believed to be at a higher risk than hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, however recent studies suggests a similar incidence rate. Acute leukemia (AL)is more common in children than adults and a risk of VT E may have a negative prognostic impact. Pediatric Hematology section of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Riyadh, manages several cases of childhood leukemia with VTE.
