Forgotten Women: Use of Female Donors and Survival Outcomes

Registry analyses have shown inferior post-transplant survival when female donors are utilized for male recipients and therefore these donors are relatively underutilized. We hypothesized that with proper selection, the survival of recipients with female donors would be equivalent. We tested the ratio of the donor to recipient body mass index (DRB) as a way to select appropriate female donors.
