摘要
A new series of transition metal complexes of Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III) with the azo dye, 3-hydroxy-4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenylazo)naphthalene-1-sulphonic acid (LH) have been synthesized and characterized. The structural features have been arrived from their microanalysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance measurements, mass, fluorescence, IR, UV-Vis, (HNMR)-H-1 and ESR spectral studies. Mossbauer spectra of two iron complexes have been done. In the light of these results, it is suggested that ligand coordinates to metal ions via hydroxyl oxygen and nitrogen of azo group. The fluorescence spectral property of ligand and complexes studied where complexes shows enhanced emission. The redox property of the Co(II) complex is studied by cyclic voltammetry. The ligand and its Mn(II) complex was investigated for non linear optical property. The in vitro biological activity of the ligand and complexes were tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. The results indicate that the complexes have enhanced biological activity than the ligand. Antioxidant activity of the ligand and complexes was studied by free radical scavenging method. The nuclease activity of ligand and complexes show that they cleave DNA through redox chemistry.
