Abstract
•Jet break-up dynamic of bio-butanol droplet impacting onto solid and heated surface in the film boiling regime was studied.•Jet break-up phenomenon only occurs at Weber number around between 14 and 90.•Secondary droplets numbers first increase then decrease with We and reach max. at 65.•Length of jet break-up first increase slowly then decrease rapidly with We and then increase with We.•Time of jet break-up is well agree with the theory of Rayleigh instability.
