Curvature-based pattern recognition for cultivar classification of Anthurium flowers

•The curvature depends only on the shape of the curve.•The signed curvature of boundary curve of the flower was used to describe its shape.•Cultivars of the flower were successfully recognized based on the curvature.•The proposed cultivar classification method is applicable in real-time processes.
