Enhancing the efficacy of yeast biocontrol agents against postharvest pathogens through nutrient profiling and the use of other additives

•Nutritional profile of antagonist yeast and pathogens molds were determined in vitro.•Vishniacozyma victoriae and Pichia membranifaciens were employed as BCAs.•Penicillium expansum and Botrytis cinerea strains were employed as pathogens.•The relationship between the additives and the biocontrol capacity was analysed.•The combination of the yeast and some additives resulted in enhancing biocontrol.
