An Experimental Study on the Thermal Performance of a Novel Hydrodynamic Cavitation Reactor

•An experimental investigation of a novel 15 kW class HCR was performed.•Heat generation rate and thermal efficiency maximally reached 48.15 MJ/h and 82.18%.•Increasing rotation speed and pump pressure resulted in higher thermal performance.•Increasing water temperature resulted in lower thermal performance.
