A New Method for the Determination of Ethanol Concentration by Steam Distillation Equipment Using "the Gravimatric Method"

We devised a simple and quick method for the determination of ethanol concentration by steam distillation equipment using the "gravimetric method." As a result of the examination using this new method, the condition in which the minimum sample volume is 30 mL and minimum distillation volume is 30 mL constitutes an equal accuracy compared with conventional methods. The analysis time for this method is about six minutes, or about one tenth compared with conventional methods. This allows a much more streamlined process.
