Bat cave vulnerability index (BCVI): A holistic rapid assessment tool to identify priorities for effective cave conservation in the tropics

•Many cave ecosystems, which harbour a wide range of bat species remain undersurveyed and unprotected.•We develop a standardised and rapid assessment approach to identify priorities for bat cave conservation for tropical caves.•By integrating species diversity and landscape features we provide a well-rounded cave prioritisation approach.
